Our Case Statement

Although Evergreen has been providing services in Texarkana for over 30 years, the previous building came to need many costly upgrades and did not have enough space to incorporate dynamic new programs for those we serve, and was a multi-level structure without an elevator for access to each level. A much larger 12,534 square foot building was acquired in 2020 to make the expansion possible. The total project costs include required HVAC and fire alarm upgrades, cosmetic upgrades, equipment, and furnishings to complete our indoor program space. Landscaping and outdoor structures to incorporate outdoor programming that will include a walking path, basketball area, gazebos, greenhouse, raised garden beds, and fencing for one city block are also a major part of the anticipated expenses. The new facility will allow Evergreen to provide a state-of-the-art, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant building and to greatly expand programs and services to include:

Library

Music Room

Indoor Fitness Center

Outdoor Sports Area

All people with intellectual and developmental disabilities should have the opportunity to be contributing members of their communities; to make real choices; to have the confidence to strive; to have the freedom to excel; to have supports to achieve individual goals; to influence policy; to determine services that affect their lives; and to recognize that they have the same rights, privileges, and power to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. The new building will enable Evergreen to provide dynamic programs and services that make these worthy ideals a reality. But we can not do it alone, we need your help!
