Kelly

Can you guess who the No.1 team in NCAA basketball history is?

Kelly, an individual served by Evergreen’s Kentucky Division, could tell you. “The Kentucky Wildcats!” she will exclaim.

Kelly will also tell you that the Wildcats have won more than 2,000 games. That her cousin goes to University of Kentucky. And that she’s been the Wildcats biggest fan for as long as she can remember.

Kelly’s life-long dream was to attend a Wildcats Basketball game. Her Evergreen staff worked with Kelly to create a monthly budget to help her save for a ticket. Kelly put a little bit of money away each month for years.

In February, Kelly achieved her dream. She cheered shoulder-to-shoulder in a sea of blue and white as the Wildcats took on the Tennessee Vols. She bought a Wildcats cup to take her medicine with – her lucky cup. And if you ask Kelly what her favorite part of the game was, she won’t be able to say. It was perfect. “Everything was my favorite.”

Kelly’s dream came true because of your support. Your contributions allow Evergreen to hire staff to work with Kelly, and the more than 1,100 individuals we serve, to learn important life skills –  skills like creating a budget and saving for a goal. Thank you for all that you do to give people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the ability to be as independent as possible.
