Need Help?
Dear Friends,
I hope you and your families are doing well and that you have something fun planned for the upcoming summer.
We are happy to report that we have not had any more COVID-19 infections among the people we serve since my last update at the end of March. In Oklahoma, three staff members contracted COVID-19 in the last month, including one who was hospitalized.
We are still in phase two of our reopening, which allows for vaccinated people to return to our Day Programs, including individuals who do not live in an Evergreen community home. Family members with proof of vaccination can now hug their loved ones when visiting and do not have to be socially distanced. You can find the full reopening guidelines on our website here.
Texas Winter Storm/Hurricane Laura Aftermath
We are still working to repair the eight community homes damaged during the Texas Winter Storm. Supply and labor shortages have greatly delayed these repairs. Forty-one individuals from our North Central Texas Division remain displaced. We hope that in a few weeks they will be able to return home. In the meantime, these individuals continue to live in hotels and at our Day Program Offices, which have accommodations for day-to-day living
I also wanted to note that we are still rebuilding from Hurricane Laura. In West Calcasieu, the division office was destroyed, and the landlord has decided not to rebuild. We are currently looking for a new office space.
